FLOS was founded in 1962 are the Italian Lighting Specialists. The very same year FLOS began producing a number of lamps that were to become classics in Italian industrial design. These first lamps were Arco, Relemme, Toio and Taccia — all designed by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni. As a tangible proof of FLOS Lighting's timeless design and technical excellence, these lamps continue to be produced today.
In 1998 FLOS established its presence in the architectural sector by acquiring a share of Antares, a Spanish company specialized in lighting devices. The wedlock between a Spanish manufacturer of mass-retail products and an Italian producer of high-class interior design lamps led to the creation of FLOS Architectural Lighting, which combines cutting-edge engineering with suggestive lighting design. In 2005 FLOS acquired the majority share (75%) of Antares and rolled it into the Flos brand.
Flos Architectural offers a large range of primarily indoor architectural LED lighting. In addition to an extensive range of track spots and downlights, Flos Architectural has produced innovative architectural systems with recessed magnetic profiles to which ambient and accent lighting modules with different optics can be attached.
